More reasons to leave the US of A

August 3, 2008 · 5 Comments

I read one of the most disturbing explanations for the existence of this country today.

Apparently some people think this country was created to spread Christianity. Wow, it still causes me nausea.

How about THIS idiot douchebag

Also, the economy is only getting worse. Today, someone I know called our current economy another Great Depression. He also said how the way we got out of the last “depression” was World War II. I quickly added that we’re already in a war or two, and their previous quick-economy-fix isn’t working this time!

I read a disturbing article about increased suicides to escape from debt. That is just fucking insane.

But the eighth bank of recent crisis has closed, in Florida. I read another article about losses, bailouts, and layoffs.

Not to mention the fact that polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. Oh, that’s right, those aren’t here in the United States per se, but it’s thanks to our damn carbon emissions and fossil fuel usage. Eventually, or soon, parts of Florida and other coastal regions could be in danger.

I also found out that the candidate for U.S. President that I KINDA like (Obama) may favor extreme gun control! Also not a promising sign. At least the guy admits his drug use though (“I inhaled”) which could be a good sign for his stance on future drug laws, but seriously. Let’s hope that 2nd Amendment stays intact.

I just read a similar article to this one at cryptogon.

Interesting.

I wouldn’t say that this country was founded to SPREAD Christianity, but it was founded primarily by Christians (not deists as some would have you believe) who came here because of religious persecution, and intended to found a Christian nation. I know this may sound unbelievable to you, so I would suggest you check out: http://www.wallbuilders.com for more information.

It was mostly because I read that from that article and there was a large gathering of the right-wing Christian types to discuss/agree upon this type of thing – which disturbs me.

I think it is important for people to have the freedom to practice whatever religion they choose, but that this country is for some reason so very Christian/religious bothers me, because I’m bombarded by it when I don’t desire to be.

On the flipside of the religious freedom coin needs to be MY freedom to NOT be smothered by religious doctrine if I so choose.

Oh and thanks for the comment – you’re my first! :)
