Why, you ask?
I just read on the FRONT OF CNN that she “feels like a fat cow” at 200 pounds.
Now, she has struggled with her weight for years, of course, but what will saying she feels like a fat cow make her millions of watchers feel like, many of whom are not deathly skinny either?
I think it’s a bad move.
Even Oprah is wrapped up with this society’s obsession with weight, and for a 28 year old man who enjoys bigger women (ones that at least have some good curves, and some who are VERY voluptuous), I resent Oprah’s insensitivity to these lovely ladies.
So what is going on? This role model for many needs to re-assess her views and the kind of thoughts she projects on the populace.
She’s adding to the problem and not the solution.
Some women (and people in general) are FINE with being a little bigger (thankfully, for guys like me).
In societies of the past, being a little round was a sign of prosperity and wealth, now it’s a bane and everyone is expected to look like these ugly little Kate Moss waifs.
And we wonder why there is an epidemic of eating disorders in this country?
Maybe because our fuller-figured role models are making girls feel worse about their size.
I’m sick of it and I’m taking a stand.

I agree with everything you said but in the same sense I kind of feel sorry for her. I know, feeling sorry for the millionaire seems ridiculous but imagine the stress. She’s basically damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. She’s also a perfect example that diets don’t work.

This is true.. she has tried, but still, she should just NOT be saying these kinds of things because she has SO MANY fans who are struggling with the same thing. This society’s views are just really screwed up right now, mostly because of celebrities and celebrity culture – stuff we SHOULD be ignoring, but are all taking to heart. So here’s to losing our celebrity worship! I feel a New Years’ Resolution coming on…
Thanks for the comment.

Well, don’t know the complete story, but the skinny model is dominant in our culture.
The real problem, for what I think, is massive transposion from character based values (personality) to exterior and stylish values.
The majority of young boys and girls don’t give a f***k about what you think and what you are inside. They care about symbols, the shit you wear, the products you buy and own (cars, porfumes, gadgets), the music you listen.
You must be what you look to be.
I think this is terrific. Non pretty people like me have to do any sort of magic to gain attentions from other people, expecially, ehm.. girls.
Anyway, merry Xmas.
PS. diets work. The problem is the business all around the diets..

What can I say Oprah has taken a step backwords on this weight thing. Upon all her money she can’t control her eating habits…shame on her. She really needs to stop all this focus on her weight and stick to what she is good at. Let her leave the weight things to people like myself who are doing our best to make this world a better place for BBW, full figured women and not to mention FA’s like myself. She simple needs to come to a BODacious Nights event and FIT right in… We don’t judge so why is she judging herself.
